3 Held in Niger State Pregnancy-for-Ritual Case

Niger State Police arrested three people for allegedly trying to buy a six-month pregnancy for ritual purposes. The suspects reportedly offered a pregnant woman N30 million.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun, said on Sunday that the arrest followed a report on February 17, 2025, about a conspiracy and attempted miscarriage. The suspects are Martha Andrew, James Luka, and Johnson John.

Police said the suspects lured the victim to a location in Minna, Niger State’s capital. They planned to remove the pregnancy there.

“They promised to pay the victim thirty million naira to remove her six-month-old pregnancy for ritual purposes,” Abiodun stated.

Police learned the suspects intended to take the woman from Rafin-Yashi, Minna, to an individual named ‘Gbege.’ ‘Gbege’ is currently at large. State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) officers arrested the three suspects at a hotel on Minna’s Eastern Bye-Pass.

The suspects confessed during questioning. Police are working to arrest ‘Gbege,’ believed to be the operation’s leader.

Police urge the public to be watchful and report any strange behavior. The investigation is ongoing.
