542 Nigerian Armed Forces Personnel Retire

Lagos – A grand ceremony marked the retirement of 542 Nigerian Armed Forces Personnel Retire after 35 years of dedicated service. Non-Commissioned Officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force were honored at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Oshodi.

Vocational Training for Retiring Non-Commissioned Officers

The NAFRC plays a crucial role in preparing Non-Commissioned Officers for civilian life. Commandant Air Vice Marshal Bashir Mamman highlighted major improvements approved by President Bola Tinubu. These include enhanced starter packs and digitized records. “These interventions have significantly enhanced our capacity to prepare servicemen for civilian life,” Mamman stated. The center has trained over 53,000 personnel since its establishment, offering vocational skills.

A New Chapter for Honored Non-Commissioned Officers

The retirees received discharge certificates amidst cheers. Sergeant Musa Bello shared his optimism: “The training has prepared me well for civil life. I was trained in farming. I hope to invest my gratuity in it. I am proud of my service years.” This moment signifies a hopeful transition for these Non-Commissioned Officers.

Major General Aligbe Obhiozele, representing the Chief of Army Staff, praised the retirees. He spoke of their courage, discipline, and selfless service. “Today we celebrate your courage, discipline and selfless service to our great nation,” he said. The ceremony honored 362 personnel from the Nigerian Army, 134 from the Navy, and 46 from the Air Force. This retirement marks a significant milestone for many Nigerian Armed Forces Personnel Retire. The event concluded with the traditional lowering of flags, a symbol of their formal exit. The dedication of these Nigerian Armed Forces Personnel Retire spans decades.
