Ijagun, Ogun State – Get ready for a big shift in education! The Federal Government has officially adopted Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), turning it into a Federal University of Education.
President Bola Tinubu gave the green light on Friday. He pointed out how vital the university is for schooling in Nigeria. The Ogun State Government had invited the feds to take the reins.
A Nod to Education Heroes
This move is a special salute to two education legends: Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Tai Solarin. Awolowo kick-started free education in Western Nigeria. Solarin poured his life into teaching kids and sparking leadership at Mayflower School in Ikenne. Talk about inspiring!
President Tinubu also gave props to the Awujale of Ijebuland for saving the school from closing back in 2012.
Supercharging Teacher Training
This switch-up shows the Federal Government is serious about boosting teacher training. The school is already rocking with great programs and facilities, so it won’t need a ton of federal cash.
TASUED, which started in 2005, is now the very first federally-owned school in the Ogun East area. It’s joining forces with Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education in Owerri and Adeyemi Federal University of Education in Ondo to make teacher training top-notch. Exciting times ahead!
