Lawmakers Deny Plans for Party Defection

Lagos – Lawmakers in the Lagos State House of Assembly have strongly denied reports claiming 25 members plan to abandon the All Progressives Congress (APC). Stephen Ogundipe, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Security, and Strategy, flatly rejected the allegations on Tuesday, calling them “entirely false.”

Staying Put

Ogundipe insisted that no APC lawmaker is considering a defection. He urged the public to disregard the rumors. He pointed to a similar, incorrect report during a recent leadership disagreement, which falsely claimed that 27 lawmakers would join the Labour Party. He stated that members reaffirmed their commitment to the APC at that time.

Ogundipe emphasized the lawmakers’ continued dedication to the APC’s principles and their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu. He called on those spreading misinformation to cease. The Assembly, he said, is focused on its work. “Our priority remains enacting laws and passing motions that promote the progress and development of the state,” he finished.
