Ogun State Housing Projects Create “Smart Cities”

Abeokuta, Nigeria – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State says his administration’s housing projects have transformed areas like Kobape, Iperu, Ijebu Ode, and Ilaro into “smart cities.”

This transformation is part of the state’s urban renewal program. The first phase of 35 houses at the Ibara Government Reservation Area in Abeokuta is complete.

Project Details and Impact

Abiodun stated that these Government Reservation Areas are the state’s “treasure.” His administration is committed to developing them. He said the housing projects aim to provide shelter and create a new look for Abeokuta.

Infrastructure such as drainage, sidewalks, streetlights, electricity, and water is already in place, according to the Governor. He also emphasized the use of local artisans, creating jobs and ensuring affordable, high-quality housing.

Abiodun’s administration has an inclusive housing policy, considering all population segments. With the completion of the Ibara project’s first phase, Abiodun believes Ogun State will become a model for sustainable housing projects in Nigeria.
