Abeokuta – Ashafa Afelaja, a private school headmaster, is in police custody in Ogun State. He was arrested for allegedly sodomizing a young female pupil. The Ogun State Government confirmed the arrest. This has sparked outrage.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, said a rescue team responded quickly. They acted after reports of the alleged assault.
Afelaja is in police custody. The young victim is receiving medical care and mental support.
Zero Tolerance for Abuse
Adeleye stressed the government’s firm stand. She said, “The Ministry will secure justice for all survivors of abuse.” She promised fast action against those who commit these crimes. She will work with law enforcement. The Commissioner urged the public to report child abuse, domestic violence, or if someone is mistreated. She repeated the state’s zero-tolerance policy.
The ministry also rescued a four-year-old boy. His father brutally assaulted him. The child now receives medical and emotional support. The father is in police custody.
“Justice will be served,” Adeleye said. Legal steps are underway for the father’s case. She asked the public to help the government stop gender-based violence and child abuse.
