NEF Ultimatum Issued After Killing of Northern Travelers

Kaduna – The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) issued a 14-day NEF ultimatum to Edo State officials. This follows the killing of 16 Northern travelers in Uromi, Edo State. NEF spokesperson Prof. Abubakar Jika Jiddere signed the statement condemning the killings. The victims were Northern hunters traveling home.

Demands for Justice

The NEF ultimatum demands several actions. NEF wants the immediate recovery and return of the victims’ bodies. It calls for the arrest and public trial of those responsible for the killings. The group also demands compensation for the victims’ families and an official apology from Edo State authorities. NEF stated that past hostility against Northerners must stop.

Warning of Further Action

NEF warned it would take action if its demands are not met within 14 days. The NEF ultimatum applies to both the Edo State and Federal Governments. NEF insists perpetrators must face public punishment as a deterrent. The forum urged Northern communities to stay calm. It called on the Federal Government to ensure justice is served.
