Kaduna – Former Senator Shehu Sani announced his interest in running for the Kaduna Central senatorial district seat again in the 2027 general elections. Sani represented the district previously. He made the announcement at his Kaduna residence during an Eid-el-Fitr message, indicating his potential contest for the Shehu Sani Kaduna Central position.
Sani stated his final decision depends on the political situation at the time. “Any politician contesting an election depends on the political equation… If the conditions are right and the equations are favorable, I will offer myself to contest specifically for the Kaduna Central senatorial district,” he explained.
Focus on Governor Uba Sani’s Re-election
Despite his own ambitions, Shehu Sani stressed his current priority is supporting the re-election of Governor Uba Sani. “Our priority is to see that the incumbent governor, Uba Sani, is re-elected. We will work with all our might and strength to achieve this,” Sani declared. He acknowledged potential challenges but affirmed readiness to face opposition forces aiming for the Shehu Sani Kaduna Central seat or supporting the governor.
Comments on National Security
Beyond his political plans, Sani addressed national security. He condemned the recent killing of hunters in Edo State. He urged authorities to act decisively. “If citizens cannot move freely across the country, then we are not truly a nation,” Sani said. He warned against individuals taking law into their own hands, stating it undermines government authority. Sani called for national unity and peace to protect democracy. He emphasized the government’s duty to protect the right to life for national stability.
