Lokoja – Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan issued a warning about potential attacks. She named Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Ahmed Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello. She stated they are responsible if violence harms her or her supporters during her planned constituency visit.
The senator posted the warning on her official Facebook page. She assured constituents of peaceful Sallah plans. However, she clearly stated Nigerians should hold the three officials “wholly responsible” for any violence. Akpoti-Uduaghan confirmed her intention to visit her Kogi Central constituency despite tensions.
Rally Defies State Ban
The senator’s planned homecoming rally faced opposition. The Kogi State Government recently banned political gatherings, citing security reasons. Information Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo stated the ban aimed to prevent violence after recent local incidents. Police Commissioner Miller Dantawaye also cautioned the senator against the event. He stressed the rally violated the ban, reinforcing the official warning.
Despite this official warning, Akpoti-Uduaghan urged supporters to disregard cancellation rumors and join the celebration. Videos later appeared on social media showing the rally proceeded. Footage displayed hundreds of supporters gathering for the senator’s return.
