Police spokesperson Olayinka Alayande verified the incident report made to the local police station. Despite efforts, the identities of the deceased remain unknown as no one has come forward to identify them. Alayande stated, “It is believed the bodies were brought from elsewhere and dumped in the river. We don’t think they are from this state.” He suggested the river’s current might have transported the bodies to their discovery location. A local youth leader named Shileola expressed shock upon learning of the incident and visiting the scene. He reported being unable to find any identifying information on the victims. Shileola suggested the killings likely occurred elsewhere, noting a lack of recent missing persons reports within the immediate community. The police strongly appeal to the public for assistance. The Divisional Police Officer directed potential informants to visit the local hospital.
