The government’s forecast pinpoints specific periods of heightened danger. From April to June 2025, 657 communities in 52 LGAs face a high flood risk. The threat continues between July and September 2025, impacting another 544 communities across 142 LGAs. Key states listed in the high-risk category include Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Rivers, and the FCT . The outlook also projects moderate Nigeria flood risk 2025 for hundreds of additional communities during these periods.

The 2025 AFO includes the detailed forecast, a communication strategy for timely warnings, and specific mitigation plans. “Floods are among the most devastating natural disasters affecting lives, property, agriculture, and infrastructure,” Utsev emphasized, underscoring the seriousness of the threat.
