Musk Calls for Deleting US Federal Government Agencies

DUBAI – Tech billionaire Elon Musk advocated for the elimination of entire US federal government agencies during a video address at the World Governments Summit in Dubai on 13th February 2025. Musk, who currently heads the Department of Government Efficiency, aligned his remarks with President Trump’s agenda to curtail government spending.

Musk criticized what he termed the “rule of the bureaucracy,” asserting it superseded the “rule of the people’s democracy.” He also praised the Trump administration’s reportedly reduced interest in “interfering with the affairs of other countries,” representing a more isolationist stance.

Musk’s comments are particularly significant given his expanded influence within the government, having secured considerable control with President Trump’s support since taking charge of the Department of Government Efficiency. His statements reflect a shifting perspective on US engagement in regions like the Middle East, where the US has maintained a military presence since the 9/11 attacks.

The tech magnate also connected the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives with potential risks associated with artificial intelligence, though he did not elaborate on specifics.

Beyond the topic of federal government agencies, Musk unveiled plans for a “Dubai Loop,” a proposed 17-kilometer underground transportation network featuring 11 stations and a capacity exceeding 20,000 passengers per hour.

Dubai’s crown prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, confirmed that the city-state and Musk’s Boring Company would jointly explore the feasibility of the “Dubai Loop.” Musk described the project as akin to a “wormhole.”
