Senator Natasha Fires Back at Demand to Retract Allegations

ABUJA – Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan pushed back against lawyer Olisa Agbakoba’s demand. Agbakoba had called for her to withdraw sexual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

She declared she never received any letter from Agbakoba. She firmly denied any deliberate silence. “I place it on formal record that no such letters have ever been served upon me,” Senator Natasha stated, adding that suggestions she was ignoring the matter were incorrect.

Ongoing Court Cases

Senator Natasha pointed to active court cases affecting the situation. One case involves Akpabio’s wife suing for ₦250 billion. In another, She is legally challenging her suspension from the Senate.

She criticized Agbakoba’s actions. She suggested he was trying to shape public opinion while also using court rules to limit discussion. “A litigant may not approbate in the courts and reprobate in the press,” she noted.

Senator Natasha strongly rejected the idea that her previous polite interactions with Akpabio undermined her complaint. “Civility should not be mistaken for consent or comfort,” she explained. She warned that confusing the two “trivialises a serious concern of sexual harassment.”

She concluded that Agbakoba has no legal right to demand evidence from her outside of a formal court process. She emphasized her response was only “to correct the public record and to prevent a constructive admission being inferred from silence.”
