NAU Expels Student for Assaulting Lecturer

AWKA, NIGERIA – Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for assaulting a lecturer. The expulsion, announced Friday by Acting Registrar Victor Modebelu, follows a disciplinary committee investigation.

The Student Disciplinary Committee found Chimamaka guilty of gross misconduct after investigating the assault on a lecturer in the Department of Theater and Film Studies. The committee determined Chimamaka violated university regulations, specifically Regulation 4.

Acting Vice-Chancellor, acting on behalf of the University Senate, approved the committee’s recommendation for expulsion.

“The Ag. Vice-Chancellor, consequently, on behalf of the University Senate, approved the Committee’s recommendation that you be expelled and you are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka,” Modebelu stated.

The expulsion is effective immediately. Chimamaka must leave the university premises and return any university property.

The university’s action highlights its commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.
