KATSINA STATE – Soldiers from Operation Forest Yaki (OPFY) Main Strike Team killed several terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition during a clearance operation. This Troops Neutralise Terrorists in Katsina operation happened in parts of Katsina State on May 9.
The operation began at 5:30 a.m. Troops advanced from Bini, moving through Landal village and Akuzo, towards the Yan Wutsiya area. They confronted terrorists at a hideout called “Soja Camp.” A fierce gun battle followed. Several terrorists died. Others fled with gunshot wounds, leaving bloodstains. This engagement disrupts terrorist activities in the area.
Weapons Cache Recovered, Terrorist Camp Dismantled
After the gunfight, soldiers searched the “Soja Camp.” They recovered numerous weapons. These included two AK-47 rifles and ten AK-47 magazines, loaded with 300 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. A 120mm mortar bomb, suspected for use in improvised explosive devices (IEDs), was also found. Additionally, one locally made PKT rifle, a locally made pistol, 120/88 links, military uniforms, and one Baofeng radio set with chargers were seized. This Troops Neutralise Terrorists in Katsina operation has reduced the terrorists’ operational capabilities.
Troops also destroyed a motorcycle belonging to the fleeing terrorists. They dismantled all logistical and support structures within the camp to prevent its reuse.

Military sources reaffirmed their resolve to continue aggressive operations. The goal is to dismantle all terrorist enclaves in the region. Through intelligence-led operations, the military aims to protect civilians and restore peace in Katsina State and surrounding areas.
