Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was elected to the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) Steering Committee on February 15, 2025. The election occurred during OAFLAD’s 29th Ordinary General Assembly. The Steering Committee is the highest decision making body of the organization.
Senator Tinubu will represent West Africa. She joins seven other members on the committee: representatives from Sierra Leone, Angola, Malawi, Kenya, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, and Congo. The OAFLAD Steering Committee is an eight member group.
The First Lady of Sierra Leone is OAFLAD’s new President. The First Lady of Angola will be the Vice President.
Senator Tinubu’s two-year term begins immediately. Her role in the OAFLAD Steering Committee allows participation on the groups advocacy and strategic planning.
