Manhunt Underway After Police Inspector Found Dead in Ogun Hotel

Akute, Ogun State – A frantic manhunt is underway for a woman connected to the mysterious death of a police inspector found in an Ogun State hotel room early Saturday. Inspector Haruna Mohammed, serving with the Ishashi Division of the Lagos State Police Command, was discovered lifeless at a hotel in Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi Akute.

Police say Mohammed checked into the hotel with the unidentified woman around 1:00 AM. The woman, described only as “unidentified,” reportedly asked the hotel reception for tap water around 6:00 AM, then vanished. Hours later, at 8:52 AM, hotel staff discovered Mohammed’s body after finding the room unlocked. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and the active manhunt. Odutola stated that identifying the deceased was initially difficult because he carried no identification. Police later confirmed he was an inspector with the Ishashi Division in Lagos.

“The death is being treated as unnatural,” Odutola said, adding that efforts to locate the woman who accompanied Mohammed are a top priority.

The hotel manager, whose name has been withheld pending the investigation, reported finding the room door ajar. This detail adds another layer of mystery to the already perplexing case.

This incident echoes a similar case in January, where Inspector Lawal Ibrahim was found dead in a Gwagwalada guest inn after meeting a woman online. While the two incidents are not confirmed as connected, the parallel raises questions. The ongoing manhunt will be crucial in determining the facts of this latest case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
