AGF Denies EFCC Allegations Over Governors’ Defection

ABUJA – The Attorney General’s office (AGF) rejected allegations from Paul Ibe. Ibe is a spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Ibe claimed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman and the Solicitor General of the Federation met governors. He alleged this meeting happened 48 hours before the governors joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The AGF denies EFCC allegations as untrue.

AGF Calls Claims Baseless

Kamarudeen Ogundele, AGF’s Special Assistant on Communication & Publicity, addressed the claims. Ogundele stated Friday that the EFCC chairman and Solicitor General never met any governor as Ibe claimed. The AGF’s office called Ibe’s claims “from the pit of hell” and a “figment of imagination.” The AGF’s office urged the public to dismiss the insinuation. It said the allegations aimed to undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its anti-corruption fight.

Commitment to Anti-Corruption Stated

The Attorney General’s office reaffirmed its commitment. The statement declared President Tinubu’s administration remains dedicated to the rule of law and fighting corruption. Officials stated they “will not falter in the fight against corruption no matter whose ox is gored.” This highlights the administration’s resolve. It signals a resolve for justice and transparency, despite any links to the EFCC governors defection claims.
