Memorial Day is observed each year on the last Monday in May. Across the United States, Americans mark this day with solemn ceremonies. National flags are displayed widely. Many tributes are paid to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in military service.

Due to the holiday, routine US consular services will be unavailable at both the Abuja embassy and the Lagos consulate. Normal operations are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, May 27.
