LAGOS – Babalola Jeremiah and Hassan Oluwaseun Abraham from the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) National Headquarters, Makoko, Lagos, have won the True Word in Season Bible Quiz. The pair earned the grand prize of $1,500 in the spirited CCC Bible Quiz.

Sixty participants from 30 parishes across Southwest Nigeria and the Republic of Benin joined the contest. The event specially marked the 40th anniversary of the passing of CCC founder, Rev. Prophet Pastor S.B.J. Oshoffa. This CCC Bible Quiz served as a tribute to his lasting legacy.

Mokola Parish achieved second place, winning N500,000. Sharon Parish secured the third spot with a N250,000 reward. Each parish that took part also received N100,000, recognizing their valuable participation.

Quiz Celebrates Pa Oshoffa Heritage

Ademola Bolaji, the event convener and founder of True Word in Season, spoke about the quiz’s deep meaning. He said it plays a vital role in preserving the spiritual Pa Oshoffa heritage and his important teachings.

“This competition started in Pa Oshoffa’s time… he ensured it reached even the Sunday school children,” Bolaji shared. He explained that the quiz questions came from both the Old and New Testaments. They also covered key CCC teachings and historical church moments. The Lagos parish duo showed excellent knowledge.

“God gave this man His words after the Bible… Pa Oshoffa gave us the truth,” Bolaji stated. He emphasized the value of CCC’s unique doctrines.

A Call for Strong CCC Youth Engagement

Ven. Superior Evangelist Afis Kiki, Shepherd-in-charge of the CCC National Headquarters, praised the event’s positive spiritual influence. He strongly encouraged young church members to stay firmly rooted in Christ. This highlights the focus on CCC youth engagement.

“This is the finest event of its kind for our church’s future mission,” he remarked. He added that while the church began in 1951, this was the first internationally organized quiz of this scale, making it a special occasion.

“We thank God for the ambition and zeal our youths are showing. This is the best thing that has happened to the CCC,” Kiki concluded with enthusiasm. He urged the youth to turn away from worldly distractions and to hold up the gospel. The success in the CCC Bible Quiz is a testament to this youthful spirit.
