PORT HARCOURT – The Rivers State Police Command announced a significant development. Police have neutralized a notorious kidnapper and murder suspect. His name was David Uzoma Kamalu. He was widely known by the alias M-Kaze.
According to police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspect was killed during a raid. The raid happened at his hideout. The place was Rumuodogu 1 Community in Emohua Local Government Area. This event occurred on May 25, 2025.
Police operatives came under fire from gang members at the hideout. This led to an exchange of gunfire. M-Kaze was killed during this exchange. Several other gang members managed to escape. They had varying degrees of bullet wounds.
Police Find Weapons, Detail Suspect’s History
A thorough search of Kamalu’s hideout followed the operation. Police found a cache of incriminating exhibits. These items included:
- A pump-action shotgun
- Live cartridges
- Local charms
Police described M-Kaze as a high-value target. He had a notorious reputation. He was known for orchestrating heinous crimes against innocent citizens.
He was declared wanted by police. This was for his involvement in the murder of a local security operative, Mr. Alete. Police also wanted him for multiple high-profile kidnappings and armed robberies. These crimes happened along the East-West Road corridor.
Police Vow Continued Action
The state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, spoke about police efforts. He restated the command’s commitment. Police will work to ensure public safety and security in Rivers State.
Police are currently conducting an investigation. The goal is to apprehend the gang members who ran away. Police have urged the public to remain vigilant. Report any suspicious individuals with gunshot wounds to the nearest security agency.
