Benue Herdsmen Attacks Spark Fear, Police Feared Dead

ABUJA — Benue Herdsmen Attacks have instilled fear in the Udei community of Guma Local Government Area on Sunday. Reports indicate three police officers may have been killed during an attempted raid by suspected herdsmen. This incident raises concerns about increasing insecurity across Benue State.

Eyewitnesses described armed herdsmen ambushing police officers during the incident. The gunmen reportedly made away with the officers’ rifles. Loss of these rifles weakens response capacity.

In a separate incident, suspected armed Fulani herdsmen attacked two farmers. The victims, identified as Nensha Adeor and Kator Gbenge, were assaulted in Adeor settlement. This settlement is in Ndzorov Council Ward, the hometown of former Governor Samuel Ortom.

Local sources reported farmers attempted to prevent herders from allowing cattle to graze on their farms. This action led to a violent confrontation. The herdsmen, armed with machetes, launched a brutal assault.

Medical staff at Gbajimba General Hospital confirmed the critical condition of the two farmers. They are receiving treatment for deep machete wounds. Their injuries show the attack’s severity.
