Nigeria Hits Record 5,543MW Peak Electricity Generation

ABUJA – Nigeria’s power sector achieved a new record peak electricity generation of 5,543 megawatts (MW) on February 14, 2025, at 11:00 PM, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced. This surpasses the previous day’s peak of 5,437.8MW.

The record generation also resulted in a new Maximum Daily Energy of 125,159.48MWH, the highest in the nation’s history. This exceeds the February 7, 2025, record of 121,674.88MWH by 3,484.60MWH.

TCN stated it successfully transmitted the peak electricity generation and maximum daily energy to distribution companies nationwide. These companies are responsible for delivering the electricity to consumers.

The TCN attributed the improvement to the current administration’s and the Minister of Power’s focus on increasing Nigeria’s power generation and supply. The increased peak electricity generation.
