Air France responded after a flight carrying 55 passengers was diverted to Lome, Togo, due to bad weather in Abuja on Thursday. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) provided updates on the situation.
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, expressed concern that Air France planned to leave the passengers in Lome overnight. Keyamo stated on social media that the passengers should return to Abuja that night or receive proper accommodations.
Following intervention from the minister and the NCAA, They provided hotel accommodations for the passengers. Keyamo spoke with Air France representatives, emphasizing the need to adhere to international standards.
On Friday morning, NCAA spokesman Michael Achimugu confirmed that the passengers were housed in a hotel in Lome. He stated that an Air France aircraft would transport all 55 passengers to Abuja that night. Achimugu thanked the minister for his quick action in ensuring they met service standards. The NCAA will monitor the situation and expects a compliance report from them regarding the incident.
