Tinubu Appoints Jega for Major Livestock Reform Role

Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tapped Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, the respected former head of INEC, to lead the Presidential Livestock Reform as Adviser and Coordinator. The announcement came Friday, signaling a serious push to boost the livestock industry.

Why Jega? A Leader for Livestock

Professor Jega isn’t new to this. He worked alongside President Tinubu on the Presidential Livestock Committee. That group recommended creating a dedicated Livestock Ministry, which now exists with a minister at the helm. So, why Jega? Think experience.

At 68, Jega brings serious credentials. He’s not just a former INEC chair (where he earned a reputation for getting things done); he also sits on the International Elections Advisory Council and leads the Governing Council of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education. The expectation is clear: Jega is there to ensure real progress on the livestock reforms the committee started. He knows how to lead and how to get results.
