Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation. The appointment follows a selection process.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, released a statement. It confirmed the appointment on Tuesday. Ogunjimi will start on March 7, 2025. This is the retirement date for Oluwatoyin Madehin, the current Accountant General.
Ogunjimi, 57, was first chosen in December 2024. The selection process involved Directors of Accounts. It included a written test, an ICT test, and interviews. President Tinubu wants to ensure transparency and competence.
Ogunjimi has a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He also has a Master’s degree from the University of Lagos. He is a fellow of accounting and taxation institutes.
President Tinubu congratulated Ogunjimi. He urged him to serve with integrity.
