Eniola Olajuni, the National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, is free. He was released after 12 days in kidnappers’ custody. He was abducted on February 17 while traveling to Abuja for a meeting.
A video showed Olajuni asking for help. His kidnappers wanted N100 million and two tricycles as ransom.
The Inspector General of Police sent the Intelligence Response Team to help. The team secured Olajuni’s release. Biodun Aderohunmu, the National Secretary of the Youth Council, confirmed the release on Saturday. He said, “He has been released.”
Olajuni’s release ends his ordeal. It also points to the problem of kidnapping and ransom in Nigeria.
The Afenifere Youth Council is likely relieved. The organization will probably continue to push for the safety of its members and the public.
