LAGOS – Nigeria has impressively secured the third spot among Africa’s top ten manufacturing nations. This new Nigeria manufacturing rank in Africa was revealed by The African Exponent. The report positions Nigeria firmly among Africa manufacturing leaders.
According to the publication, South Africa, Egypt, and Nigeria are spearheading the continent’s industrial transformation. These three nations host Africa’s most influential and impactful manufacturing companies. “The manufacturing sector in Africa is projected to have a value-added output of $77.66 billion and a total output of $284.70 billion by the end of 2025,” the report stated. This signals a very positive and robust outlook for industrialization across the continent.
Powering Nigeria’s Manufacturing Ambitions
Giants of industry are driving the Nigerian industrial sector forward. Companies like Dangote Group, BUA Group, Nestlé Nigeria, and Unilever Nigeria are at the forefront. Nigeria’s industrial landscape has significantly expanded. This growth comes from massive projects such as the Dangote Refinery. Aggressive sectoral reforms have also played a crucial role in boosting the Nigeria manufacturing rank in Africa.
“Nigeria is home to some of Africa’s largest industrial conglomerates,” the report observed. Key sectors fueling this success include Cement, Food and Beverages, Consumer Goods, and the burgeoning Oil Refining sector. These industries effectively leverage Nigeria’s vast domestic market and attract growing investment inflows.
The Continental Industrial Landscape
While Nigeria celebrates its climb, South Africa maintains its top position among Africa manufacturing leaders. South Africa’s strengths lie in its well-established Automotive, Steel, and Chemicals industries, supported by strong global partnerships.
Egypt holds the second position, boasting a thriving export-driven manufacturing base. Key Egyptian sectors include Cement, Pharmaceuticals, and Petrochemicals. Completing the top six are Morocco, Kenya, and Algeria. These nations demonstrate strong industrial capacity through strategic investments and sectoral specializations.
“These countries are setting new benchmarks for industrial excellence on the continent,” the report emphasized. This paints a picture of a competitive yet increasingly collaborative manufacturing environment across Africa.
