Agbakoba Questions Natasha Harassment Claims, Cites Inconsistencies

LAGOS – Olisa Agbakoba SAN, legal counsel for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has raised concerns about alleged inconsistencies in sexual harassment claims made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Agbakoba stated his team found issues with the timeline presented in the allegations. He called for an objective, evidence-based review while stating his opposition to gender-based harassment.

Timeline Discrepancies Noted

Agbakoba highlighted a key inconsistency. The alleged  incident reportedly occurred on December 8, 2023. However, Agbakoba pointed out that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan posted praise for Akpabio on social media the following day, December 9.

“These posts included praise for the Senate President,” Agbakoba said, suggesting this contradiction needs examination. He stressed that while past claims don’t negate current ones, consistency is vital in serious harassment cases.

Call for Clarification

Agbakoba has formally asked Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to address the points raised by his team. A letter dated April 14 gives her two weeks to respond.

“As the claim currently stands, it falls short of the global legal threshold for proving sexual harassment,” Agbakoba stated. He advocated for handling the matter through official channels rather than public debate.
