Eze disputes presidential aide’s claim about Tinubu’s role in Buhari victory
Port Harcourt, Rivers State – APC chieftain Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze disputed claims that President Bola Tinubu orchestrated former President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 election victory on Tuesday. Eze credited former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as the architect of Buhari’s presidential campaign.
Response to Presidential Aide
Eze responded to Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Media and Publicity, who claimed Tinubu masterminded the political alignment that brought Buhari to power.
“The fact that the insensitive sponsored statement gained traction in the media space makes this rebuttal imperative,” Eze said.
He described Ajayi’s assertion as “a figment of his infantile imagination.”
Amaechi’s Campaign Role
Eze highlighted Amaechi’s role as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization during 2015.
“Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi remains an undisputed factor in the history book of top brass Nigerians that worked towards the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari,” Eze stated.
He claimed Amaechi intervened during the APC primaries when Buhari faced challenges.
“On the eve of the Primaries, Buhari was at the verge of losing until Amaechi stepped in to save the situation,” Eze said.
Vice Presidential Selection
Eze said Tinubu’s vice presidential ambitions were blocked over Muslim-Muslim ticket concerns.
“That was how Osinbajo was drafted into the map,” he said, referring to Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s selection as Buhari’s running mate.
Previous Praise for Amaechi
Eze recalled Tinubu previously calling Amaechi “the General of Revolution” and “not a chicken but Eagle.”
“Ajayi has lost memory… Amaechi, as Campaign Director General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation, defeated a sitting President,” Eze said.
