Ibadan, Nigeria – Armed robbers attacked Awolowo Hall, a student dormitory at the University of Ibadan, early Saturday morning. The robbers stole phones, jewelry, and clothing from students.
The robbery lasted several hours. Students reported being threatened during the theft. The value of the stolen goods is estimated to be thousands of naira.
University security responded to student screams. Police arrested some suspects at the scene. These suspects are now at Sango Police Station. Other armed robbers escaped, and police are actively searching for them.
University of Ibadan Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the robbery. She stated that the robbers stole students’ mobile phones.
University officials said they are increasing security measures to protect students. They aim to prevent future incidents involving armed robbers. The police investigation continues.
