The Ondo State Police Command has captured two armed robbery suspects who allegedly terrorized Akure residents. Authorities arrested 26-year-olds Amubieya Emmanuel and Ogunmola Akintola on February 25, 2025, in Ondo Town.
Crime Spree Details
Police spokesperson CSP Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team apprehended the suspects linked to multiple incidents since August 2024.
“They pick their victims using a Toyota Camry, drive them to remote areas within Akure, and rob them of their mobile phones,” Odunlami said. The suspects targeted women at night, forcing victims to transfer money at gunpoint with what later proved to be a toy gun.
Police recovered the Toyota Camry, a knife, an iron rod, and the fake weapon used in the armed robbery operations. Both suspects have confessed to their crimes.
Investigations continue as police work to identify possible accomplices in the armed robbery cases.
