Atiku Obasanjo Meeting: Atiku, Tambuwal, Imoke Visit Obasanjo

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar met ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday. This meeting happened at Obasanjo’s house in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Atiku came with others. These included Liyel Imoke, former Governor of Cross River State; Senator Abdul Ningi; and Senator Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto State.

People do not know the meeting’s agenda. This unknown agenda creates guesses about Atiku’s plans for the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku’s visit happens during a time of action. Opposition politicians are planning. They want to win against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election.

Atiku Obasanjo Meeting: What Happened

Atiku was Obasanjo’s deputy from 1999 to 2007. Atiku has played a large role in Nigerian politics for more than 30 years. He ran for president in 2023 with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He lost to President Bola Tinubu of the APC. The Atiku Obasanjo meeting created interest.

Atiku said the meeting was a courtesy visit. He denied plans for a 2027 presidential run. Political leaders often have meetings like this. But, the current political situation causes people to ask about the reason for the Atiku Obasanjo meeting.

Atiku said: “It is a courtesy visit. I will not discuss 2027 or politics. I am not here for 2027.”
