Council Secretary Escapes Abductors in Niger State

Sarkin Pawa, Niger State – Daina Usman, the Council Secretary for Munya Local Government Area, escaped his abductors early Friday morning, after being kidnapped Thursday night. Council Chairman Aminu Najumei confirmed the escape.

Usman was abducted from his residence near the riverbank in Sarkin Pawa around 10 PM. The bandits took Usman, his wife, and his children. Najumei stated that Usman escaped while the bandits searched for a hiding place. His wife and children remain captive.

The bandits fled with the hostages towards Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State. This area is a known route for criminals.

Security forces, including military personnel, police tactical teams, and local vigilantes, have started a search-and-rescue operation. They aim to find the bandits and rescue the remaining victims.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the Council Secretary’s abduction.

“He was abducted yesterday around 10 pm, and he was released early this morning around 3 am. Efforts to rescue others are in progress,” said Wasiu Abiodun, spokesman for the Niger State Police Command.

Sarkin Pawa frequently experiences attacks from bandits and terrorists. This incident show the region’s current security problems. The Council Secretary’s escape provides some hope, but the safety of his family is the major focus.
