Court Adjourns Senator Natasha’s Case Amid Suspension

Abuja – The Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned the suit filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to March 25, 2025. Justice Obiora Egwatu presides over the case.

The Kogi Central Senator Suspension case involves a request to stop the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges from investigating her. The court initially granted her request. However, the Senate suspended her for six months after reviewing the committee’s report.

Legal Wrangling Continues

During the hearing, some defense lawyers said they did not receive legal documents. Senator Natasha’s lawyer, Michael Numa (SAN), stated that all parties were properly served. He presented proof of service.

Justice Egwatu confirmed that all defendants were served. Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s lawyer, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, asked for an adjournment to harmonize legal processes. Other lawyers supported this request.

Justice Egwatu granted the adjournment. He ordered that all documents be properly served before the next hearing regarding the Senator Suspension.

Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Peter Nwaebonyi, attended the court session. He stressed the importance of due legal process. He voiced concerns about judicial interference in Senate matters. He said the Senate was performing its duties lawfully in the Senator Suspension matter.
