PORT HARCOURT – As Nigeria joined the world in marking the 2025 International Workers’ Day, former federal lawmaker Dr. Farah Dagogo offered high praise for the nation’s workforce. Applauding their resilience and dedication, the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain strongly advocated for better compensation, stressing the need for improved welfare for Nigerian workers deserve given their significant sacrifices. His call came via a statement released by his media aide, Ibrahim Lawal.
Recognizing Workers as Nation Builders
Dagogo, who previously represented the Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency, described Nigeria’s public and private sector workers as the essential engine driving the country’s growth. He highlighted how their contributions keep vital sectors running, even amidst difficult socio-economic conditions. “Workers remain the bedrock of any society,” the statement read, emphasizing that their dedication warrants deep appreciation. Dagogo encouraged workers, especially those in tough jobs, assuring them their hard work is recognized, reinforcing the call for improved welfare for Nigerian workers.

The former lawmaker stressed that it’s crucial for all employers, public and private alike, to align worker compensation with Nigeria’s current economic realities. He noted that recent government policies have unfortunately highlighted shortcomings in key areas like health, education, and security, necessitating urgent reforms. Dagogo called on government at every level to prioritize investment in worker well-being and rethink development strategies to better support the working population. “I advocate for improved welfare packages that reflect the courage and sacrifices made daily,” he stated, underscoring the need for improved welfare for Nigerian workers require for stability.
