Nigeria is getting a break at the pump. Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced today it’s dropping the price of petrol (Premium Motor Spirit or PMS) to ₦825 per litre. This new price, down from ₦890, takes effect immediately, February 27, 2025.
The ₦65 price cut is designed to ease financial pressure on Nigerians, especially as the Ramadan season approaches. “This price adjustment will provide much-needed relief to Nigerians,” the refinery said in a statement, adding that it supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic recovery plans.
How much you pay will depend on where you are buying petrol. MRS outlets in Lagos will sell fuel for ₦860 per litre. Prices will be ₦870 in the South-West, ₦880 in the North, and ₦890 in the South-South and South-East.
Dangote Refinery assures the public that there’s plenty of petrol to go around. They have enough in reserve to meet the country’s needs and even have some left over for export.
This is the second time Dangote has lowered petrol prices this month. Earlier in February, they cut the price by ₦60.
Back in December 2024, the refinery also lowered petrol prices by ₦70.50, from ₦970 to ₦899.50 per litre, aiming to help Nigerians during the holiday season. The refinery says it is committed to easing the cost of living for Nigerians.
