Kano, Nigeria – The death toll from a devastating trailer accident in Kano has risen to 23, officials confirmed Friday. The accident occurred at the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange Flyover in the Hotoro area.
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Command Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, released a statement confirming the updated figure. Forty-eight injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital.
Labaran stated that the FRSC has cleared the accident scene. Normal traffic flow has resumed.
The initial death toll was reported as 16, with 52 injured. The increased number highlights the severity of the trailer accident.
