Delta Police Rescue Kidnapped Worshippers After Gun Battle

Delta State Police rescued five kidnapped worshippers after a gun battle. The victims, members of ElyonJ Paradise Ministry, were kidnapped during a night vigil at their church in Ogwashi-Uku.

Police Commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda sent tactical teams to Ogwashi-Uku after the kidnapping on February 22, 2025.

On February 25, a police team led by CSP Labe Joseph, with help from the Ubuluku community, raided the kidnappers’ hideout.

Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said the kidnappers shot at the police but ran away due to superior firepower, abandoning the victims. All five kidnapped individuals were rescued unharmed.

Police found 13 used cartridges and N1,300,000, likely ransom money, at the scene.

Police are searching for the suspects. The Delta State Police Command promises to keep the area safe and fight crime.
