Drug Bust: NDLEA Seizes Massive Shipments at Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stopped multiple drug smuggling attempts. These operations took place at the Lagos airport and other locations.

A Thai woman, Pattaphi Wimonnat, 24, was arrested. She tried to bring 46.60 kilograms of Canadian Loud into Nigeria. Canadian Loud is a strong type of cannabis. Officers found the drug at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

Authorities arrested three suspects. These included a freight agent and two dispatch riders. Samuel Bitris, the mastermind, was later arrested at his home in Ajah, Lagos.

At the Port Harcourt Port Complex in Onne, Rivers State, officers seized 49,000 pills of Tamol. Tamol is a brand of Tramadol. This was a joint operation with the Nigeria Customs Service.

Across Nigeria, the NDLEA made more arrests. In Nasarawa State, Bello Adamu, 40, and Pius Azuka, 42, were caught with 517 kg of skunk. This happened in Kokona/Keffi on February 22.

In Niger State, Usman Ruwa, 43, and Yunusa Haruna, 45, were caught with 62.7 kg of skunk. They were transporting the it in a Toyota Corolla. This happened along Sabon Asibiti Road, Kontagora. These actions show NDLEA’s commitment to fighting drug trafficking in Nigeria.
