Benin City – Edo State Police have arrested two suspected kidnappers after a tip led them to a village hideout. The suspects, Kamsiru Abubakar, 20, and Akhor Daraman, 28, are now in custody.
Police spokesman Moses Yamu reported that authorities received credible information pointing to suspected kidnappers operating near Ugonoba Village. This village sits within the Uhunmwode Local Government Area, known for its dense forests.
A Past Returns to Haunt
The quick police response led to a chase and the capture of the two suspects. But the story doesn’t end there. Disturbingly, victims of previous kidnappings stepped forward, identifying the pair as members of the gang that abducted them last year, bringing a sense of closure to those affected.
Now, police are expanding their search for other members of the kidnapping ring. Commissioner of Police Betty Otimenyin reassured residents of improved safety measures. She also expressed her gratitude for the public’s cooperation, urging continued support as the investigation unfolds. The community’s help is critical to catching all the criminals.
