LAGOS – A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of $4.7 million, N830 million, and several properties connected to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele. Justice Yellim Bogoro delivered the ruling on Friday, approving a request from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC, represented by counsel Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, stated the funds were located in accounts held by individuals and companies, including Omoile Anita Joy, Deep Blue Energy Service Limited, and Exactquote Bureau De Change Ltd. The accounts were held at First Bank, Titan Bank, and Zenith Bank.
This final Emefiele asset forfeiture represents a key development in the EFCC’s ongoing anti-corruption efforts. The properties, cash, are forfieted.
