Family Abducted in Edo State, N10m Ransom Demanded

Ivbiaro – Tragedy struck a family traveling through Edo State when gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, abducted seven people near the Ivbiaro community in Owan East Local Government Area. The family abducted in Edo state included parents and their son, along with four family friends. They were en route from Kaduna State for a relative’s prayer service.

The group was ambushed along the Auchi-Warrake road. Their journey was intended for the 40-day fidau prayer of a late mother-in-law before the kidnapping occurred.

Ransom Demand and Victims Held

The situation grew more desperate as kidnappers made contact.

  • A source close to the victims confirmed the kidnappers are demanding a N10 million ransom.
  • Reports suggest the abductors initially released one mother traveling with the group along with her two young children, apparently due to the children’s crying.
  • However, the son of the main family abducted in Edo and a female friend remain in captivity with the others.

The family is reportedly making urgent efforts to raise the demanded sum to secure the release of their loved ones.
