Ogun – A political group wants Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Wale Edun, to contest the next Ogun Governor election.
The Advocates for Ogun Development and Innovations (AODI) made this appeal. Comrade Majeed Adelakun, the group’s Public Relations Officer, signed a statement obtained by National Scoop. The statement asked Edun to “answer the call of history” and declare his intention to run.
AODI believes Edun’s extensive experience and known integrity make him a suitable leader for Ogun State at an important time.
Edun’s Background Highlighted
The group pointed to Edun’s past roles as evidence of his leadership skill. He was an Executive Director at Investment Banking & Trust Company (IBTC). He founded Denham Management Limited. He served two terms as Lagos State Commissioner for Finance.
Currently, Wale Edun serves as Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of the Economy. AODI stated, “his record is not one of promises, but of results.” They also praised his support for local empowerment and development.
Connecting with Ogun Aspirations
AODI asserted that Edun’s values align with what Ogun residents want. The statement cited his integrity and loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as beneficial qualities for the state.
The group suggested his strong ties to the federal government could help attract investment and support to Ogun State. They concluded, “We, the Advocates for Ogun Development and Innovations, believe that Mr. Wale Edun is the right man for this moment” for the Ogun Governor position. “We call on him to run. For posterity. For progress. For the people.”
