Housewife Sentenced to Death for Child Murder

Kano – A High Court sentenced housewife Fadila Adamu to death by hanging. The court found her guilty of kidnapping and murdering an eight-year-old girl.

Details of the Crime

Prosecutors said Adamu abducted the child on July 14, 2019. She took the girl from Tudun Wada Quarters to her home in Sabuwar Gandu Quarters. Adamu told her sister the child belonged to a friend who was away. On July 17, 2019, Adamu threw the child into a deep well in Tukuntawa Quarters. The girl died in the well.

Court’s Decision

The prosecution presented seven witnesses during the trial. Evidence included Adamu’s statements and a medical report confirming the child’s death. Adamu denied the charges. Justice Yusuf Muhammad-Ubale ruled the prosecution proved her guilt. “I hereby sentence the defendant to death by hanging,” the judge stated. The court convicted her of kidnapping and culpable homicide. The defense called four witnesses, but their arguments did not persuade the court. Justice Muhammad-Ubale upheld the guilty verdict and the death sentence.
