The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) arrested a suspected human trafficker. His name is Sirajo Illela. They also rescued two women. The women are Maryam Akinosi and Olatunde Abidemi. They were travelling to Libya. This case is a human trafficking arrest in Sokoto.
Tony Akuneme is the Comptroller of the Illela Border Command. He spoke on Wednesday. The arrest happened at Illela’s family home. This home is in the Yar Kara area. This is in Illela Local Government. The arrest date was February 12.
The two women were travelling. They did not have the correct documents. The investigation showed they planned to go to Libya.
Many agencies, including Immigration and NAPTIP, sought Sirajo Illela. Immigration wanted him. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) also wanted him.
