Kaduna Kidnapped Priest Released Unharmed

Kaduna – Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, a Catholic priest kidnapped last month, has been released unharmed. Kidnappers abducted him on April 24, 2024, from St. Gerald Quasi Parish in Kurmin Risga, Kaduna State. The Diocese of Kafanchan confirmed the news regarding the kidnapped priest released

The Diocese expressed gratitude to God and thanked those who offered prayers and support during the priest’s captivity.

Priest’s Safe Release Confirmed

Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Shanet, the Diocesan Chancellor, confirmed the release. He stated, “Fr. Amos was released unharmed,” bringing relief to the Catholic community and his family after weeks of uncertainty. The safe return of the kidnapped priest released  ends a period of concern.

Community Support Acknowledged

The Diocese acknowledged the support from various faith communities, security agencies, and local vigilantes. “The outpouring of concern and solidarity from people of goodwill… has been overwhelming,” Fr. Shanet said.

This support, the Diocese noted, demonstrated “that we are not alone in the struggle to respect and promote the dignity of human life.” The release of the kidnapped priest released  followed these community efforts.

Prayers Continue for Remaining Captives

The Diocese concluded its statement with prayers for others still held captive. “May the Blessed Virgin Mary… intercede for those still in captivity and lead them back safely,” the statement read. Fr. Amos’ abduction highlighted ongoing security issues in Kaduna State, particularly Southern Kaduna.
