Lagos Police Rescue 6 Abandoned Children in Ejigbo

Lagos State Police rescued six abandoned children from a residential apartment in Ejigbo, Lagos, on Sunday. Police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the rescue and stated that investigations are underway.

The incident was reported to the Ejigbo Police Station on February 18, 2025, around noon. The case was then transferred to the Gender Unit. Police received information that six minors, aged 7 to 13, were living alone without adult supervision.

“The abandoned children, aged between 7 and 13, have been rescued,” Hundeyin said. “They are now in protective shelters provided by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.”

Police and social services acted quickly to ensure the children’s safety.

Initial reports suggest the children’s mother is abroad for medical treatment. She reportedly left them with a caregiver. Police are verifying the details of their abandonment.

“We are trying to contact the mother,” Hundeyin added. “Further inquiries are continuing to establish the facts.”

Police stated they will continue to monitor the case and ensure the children’s welfare. They will also determine if any legal action is needed. Changes and rationale:
