Lawsuit Dropped: Woman Dismisses Assault Claims Against Diddy and Jay-Z

A woman who accused Sean “Diddy” Combs and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter of sexual assault has voluntarily dismissed her civil lawsuit, according to court records. The lawsuit dropped, filed in December, alleged the incident occurred at a party after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards when the plaintiff was 13.

The dismissal is “with prejudice,” preventing the case from being refiled.

Jay-Z released a statement calling the lawsuit “frivolous, fictitious and appalling.” He added, “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere…I would not wish this experience on anyone.” He expressed relief that the situation has ended.

The original lawsuit also claimed another celebrity and “many others” were present at the after-party but did not intervene.

Combs, who faces separate federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, has not commented on the lawsuit dropped. Federal prosecutors allege Combs sexually abused women and forced them into drug-fueled sex parties. These charges are unrelated.
