Military Operations: Troops Neutralize 82 Terrorists, Rescue 93 Hostages

ABUJA – Nigerian troops neutralized 82 terrorists, arrested 198 suspects, and rescued 93 hostages nationwide in operations spanning the last week, the Defence Headquarters announced. The announcement detailed successful military operations accross the country.

Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the figures in Abuja during a briefing on the military’s recent activities. Troops also seized 152 weapons, five magazines, and 2,040 rounds of ammunition.

In the South-South region, the military apprehended 22 individuals involved in oil theft, preventing the loss of approximately N587 million. Kangye stated that troops discovered and eliminated 38 illegal crude oil refining sites. They destroyed 27 dugout pits, 22 boats, two speedboats, 60 storage tanks, 34 drums, and 32 illegal refining sites. Three pumping machines, one tricycle, three motorcycles, five mobile phones, and two vehicles were recovered.

In the North-East, 41 terrorists surrendered, comprising 10 adult males, 12 adult females, and 19 children. The surrender highlights the increasing pressure from sustained military operations.

The Defence Headquarters reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Nigerian citizens and property. The recent succesful military operations underscore this promise.
